Job Summary:
This fellowship in Surgical Retina provides extensive clinical and hands-on experience in the management and surgical treatment of complex vitreoretinal conditions. The program is designed for aspiring retinal surgeons who seek to enhance their surgical skills and gain in-depth exposure to advanced retinal surgeries.
Program Details:
- OPD & Procedures:
- Comprehensive training in the examination and management of patients with retinal diseases.
- Access to advanced diagnostic tools and procedures including Indirect Ophthalmoscopy, OCT, Fundus Photography, FFA, OCT-A, B-Scan, and more.
- Regular rotations in OPDs with the opportunity to manage independent cases under mentorship.
- Clinical Experience:
- First 3 Months (Induction Phase):
- Intensive training in the clinical evaluation of patients with retinal disorders.
- Exposure to diagnostic imaging and case-based management.
- Mentorship in handling complex cases related to diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular diseases, retinal detachment, and other vitreoretinal disorders.
- Next 3 Months:
- Focus on developing skills in surgical retina with hands-on training in the operating room, including retinal surgeries for retinal detachment, macular holes, diabetic retinopathy, and more.

- First 3 Months (Induction Phase):
Key Surgical Training Areas:
- Vitreoretinal Surgeries:
- Techniques for retinal detachment repair (including PPV, scleral buckling).
- Surgical management of macular holes, epiretinal membranes, and vitreomacular traction.
- Diabetic retinal surgeries, including panretinal photocoagulation and focal laser.
- Advanced techniques for managing retinal vascular diseases, including laser treatments and surgery for retinal ischemia.
- Hands-on Surgical Training:
- Training in cutting-edge vitreoretinal procedures such as vitrectomy, membrane peeling, and endolaser applications.
- Exposure to intravitreal injections and the latest anti-VEGF therapies like Aflibercept, Brolucizumab, Faricimab, and Dexamethasone implants.
- Surgical training in ocular trauma, retinal hemorrhages, and retinal tears.
- Post-surgical Management & Follow-ups:
- Training in post-surgical care, patient counseling, and follow-up management to ensure optimal surgical outcomes.
