The Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB) is the electricity board responsible for power generation, transmission and distribution in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It came into being on 7 July 2002. The DVB replaced the erstwhile Delhi Electricity Supply Undertaking (DESU), which was responsible for the production and supply of electricity in the National Capital Territory of Delhi till 30 June 2002. The DVB is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Delhi government’s power department.
The board has two thermal power stations, five hydroelectric power stations and one gas-based power station. The installed capacity of DVB’s power plants is 2,613 MW. In addition to this, DVB has contracted 1,600 MW of power from different sources.
