General Ophthalmology Fellowship
Job Summary:
Candidates will be trained in the diagnosis and management of common diseases of the eye in the areas of clinical evaluation, use of various investigative procedures, medical treatment, surgical intervention, and research.
The clinical training involves fellows working in rotation through different subspecialties in the outpatient department. They will also be encouraged to evaluate patients’ problems in detail, using logical and clinical data to arrive at an accurate diagnosis
Program Details:
- As a comprehensive fellow, doctors are posted in each speciality for 3 months on rotation during the entire tenure of 2 years.
- The specialities include:
- Cataract and refractive
- Vitreo-retina
- Glaucoma
- Paediatric ophthalmology
- Oculoplasty
- Ample exposure to imaging modalities like PENTACAM, ASOCT, ABERROMETRY, ocular surface analysis and meibography (OSA), intraoperative OCT, OCT-Angiography, Fundus Fluorescein Angiography, , Coloured fundus photography with Autofluorescence, USG-Bscan, Ultrasound Biomicroscopy, gonioscopy, UBM, ASOCT, Anterion OCT RNFL, HVF, Syringing
- Training in pre-operative care and counselling of patients undergoing all kinds of procedures.
- Hands on surgical training in cataract as well as all types of speciality surgeries, Observation/ Assisted/ wet lab/ individual performance of surgeries
- Case discussions, seminars, journal club presentations will be held weekly..
- Additionally, soft skills like communication, counselling and the administrative management of hospitals are expected to be imbibed during the program.
- The program provides an opportunity to obtain both clinical and evidence based experiences.
