Food Corporation Of India Network Empaneled Hospitals
The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is an autonomous body set up under the Food Corporation Act, 1964, with the objective of ensuring adequate availability of foodgrains throughout the country, so as to maintain price stability in the market. The FCI procures foodgrains from farmers at minimum support prices and releases them into the market through a well-distributed network of godowns, depots and trucks. The FCI also manages buffer stocks of foodgrains to be drawn upon in times of emergency. As the nodal agency responsible for implementing the National Food Security Act, 2013, the FCI distributes foodgrains to eligible households through the Public Distribution System (PDS). The FCI is currently headed by Shri J.P. Meena.
The FCI has its headquarters in New Delhi and regional offices in each of the states. The FCI operates through five zonal offices, 24 regional offices, 642 depots, 4,732 marketing units and 5,036 trucks for transportation of foodgrains.
